Hunting and trapping

Hunting and trapping was essential to the settlers in Engerdal. Traces of hunting and trapping can be found all over the county and from many periods back in time. Hunters’ settlements from the Stone Age can be found along the shores. Traces can also be found of animal traps for catching reindeer in the mountains andother cervids in the forests, dating back to the Viking Age. The shape of the peninsula that is Blokkodden is ideal for trapping game. According to tradition, there is a trapping pit for moose in the area.
