The transportable house, the wheel barrack, represents the newest addition to living quarters used by the lumberjacks while they worked in the forest. The first wheel barracks came to Engerdal around 1960. Each barrack could house four men. The barrack itself did not have wheels, but was transported using a special trailer pulled by a tractor. Often several barracks were placed together. There were also wheel barracks used as stables. In some areas in Engerdal the horse was used in forestry as late as in the 1980s.
